Arthur Claridge

Arthur Claridge
Arthur Claridge was born in Reading, in Berkshire in 1942. He was educated at Caversham Secondary School in Reading and was there at the same time as the romantic figure artist, Gordon King. In the 1960’s he dabbled as a musician in Rhythm and Blues, but later settled down to a more conventional career in electronic engineering. He resumed painting in 1984 using oils and watercolour. In 1993 he was made redundant but when encouraged by the positive reaction to his paintings he decided to begin painting full time. Arthur Claridge is quickly maturing, with ever increasing confidence in his techniques, his palette has become more settled and he has developed a keener sense of composition, establishing him as one of the most promising artists we have seen in many years.
