Bert Wright

Bert Wright was born in Nottingham in 1930 and received his initial training at Nottingham College of Art. His career started as an architectural assistant mainly producing architectural perspectives, a number of which were hung in the Royal Academy.
 
He then embarked on broader career as an illustrator working on a diverse range of subjects and commissions including exhibition design. Following a period of managing a studio of illustrators and designers, he then moved into the field of television and became General Manager, Scenery Group at the BBC.
 
Bert Wright has for many years been a professional painter with a particular interest in marine, town and landscape subjects. He works outdoors in all seasons and most of his paintings are completed on site.

He is Council Member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the Wapping Group of Artists and the Chelsea Art Society; President of the Ealing Art Group and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Bert Wright work has been exhibited at the R.A, R.W.S., R.O.I., R.S.M.A., and a number of major London galleries. Outside London his work is exhibited in the provinces and abroad including USA, Canada, Europe, the Middle & Far East.
 
Three months of each year is spent painting and exhibiting abroad primarily in the United States. Other regular venues are Venice and the Middle East. Bert Wright's paintings are in private collections in many parts of the world. A number of international companies have commissioned his work including the Standard Chartered Bank, Beecham Group, New York Yacht Club, Daily Express Group, Lord Stevens and the Sultanate of Oman. He is currently working on commission for Allied Dunbar and Lloyds Bank.
 
He was a prize-winner in the Sunday Times/Singer Friedlander International Watercolour Competition.
