Laura Wall - Lets Just Sit Here For Five Minutes

Laura Wall is a vibrant and contemporary artist based in Devon. She lives with her husband, Dave and their dog, Roxy. Originally from Kent, she moved to Devon in 2001. Always captivated by art Laura took art GCSE a year early, encouraged by teachers and family she achieved the highest grade possible. By the age of seventeen Laura was exhibiting in galleries across Devon with her portrait series and won numerous awards and competitions.

At eighteen Laura Wall received a scholarship for Aberystwyth University of Wales and achieved a first degree BA Honors in Fine Art and Illustration. These three years embarked Laura on a journey of experimenting with new themes and ideas. Shortly after university Laura took a job as an edit assistant at a television company and dedicated her time to long hours working in the broadcast world. But after three years Laura found that she was still too passionate about art and contrary to convention handed in her notice to pursue a career in the art world.

Following this passion Laura became a full time artist and created the series 'Love at the Seaside' which focuses on a couple at different stages of their life. You will find this endearing couple with their dog featured in many places around the Southwest including recognisable places such as Dartmouth, St Ives, Falmouth, Salcombe, Fowey, Tavistock, Plymouth, Port Isaac, Wellington, Looe, Exmouth and many more. Lets Just Sit Here For Five Minutes is a Signed Limited Edition Print by Laura Wall. The style is quirky and if you look closely you will see Goose, her children's book character in the artwork.

Since Goose was first published he has reached 40 countries, this year he was launched as a hardback book in America with publisher Harper Collins. Goose is a character who was born about ten years ago and has become a 6 part picture book series, 4 board books and with merchandise too.

One of Laura's favourite things was meeting Bill Oddie last year who has narrated all the books for an audio book series, which will come out imminently. Laura says "Bill is such a lovely person and I can’t wait for you to hear his ‘Honk’! I couldn’t think of anyone more perfect to narrate them."

Laura Wall won Best Up and Coming Artist in 2013, awarded by the Fine Art Trade Guild. Laura was delighted to win such a prestigious award as it is voted for by galleries and the trade. Laura comments "It was lovely to have recognition for my work." Since then she has had sell out solo shows and her work can be found in galleries throughout the UK.
