Kate Wyatt -In the Straw

As one of the UK's leading wildlife artists, Kate Wyatt, has exhibited in galleries nationally and internationally. Exhibitions include the Mall Galleries, the Royal Academy and the Royal West of England Art Gallery. Her work has also been shown in numerous publications over the years, including front cover positions. Kate is also a member of the Association of Animal Artists.

Her father introduced her to the natural world with his love of the countryside and since then she has been passionately interest in it herself.  Kate Wyatt's artworks are nearly always started as a sketch or watercolour study made outside in the great British countryside. She prefers to sketch from life despite the British weather.  Kate feels much more alive outside and believes that drawing from direct observation is the only way to obtain depth and feeling about her subjects.

Kate works primarily in watercolour and mixed media. She layers marks with acrylic ink and pen to bring a structured chaos to her distinctive wildlife portraits. Her work captures the real essence of some of Britain's most popular mammals.

In the Straw is a great example of her stunning artwork. Her paintings of hares remain one of the most popular subjects for her as well as her collectors. In the Straw was also selected for the front cover of Art Business Today magazine in April this year. The artwork is a Signed Limited Edition Print that has been beautifully hand embellished by Kate. With the edition size at just 75 this will sell out very quickly. To view Kate Wyatt's full collection of available Signed Limited Edition Prints click here.
