Sue Howells - It's an Upside Down World

Sue Howells is recognised as one of the UK's leading watercolour artist, her work can be seen in galleries throughout the UK and also in major galleries around the world. She has provided work for Harrods and John Lewis and undertaken commissions for TV programs and advertisements.

Sue Howells completed a course in watercolour painting in 1982 and this is where her love for painting began. She started her painting career at a late stage but has made up for it since with a continuing collection of fantastic artwork.

Sue takes influences for her art from various sources although all come down to her intense curiosity for nature. She says "I like the variations in light and changes in landscapes and colours to produce the moods in my works".  The colours that she uses take on a wide range of hues when she adds light and dark and the use of contrasting colours create strong, effective artworks. Sue regularly visits Wales and Italy for ideas for new work.

It's an Upside Down World is bold and vivid, this is the style that makes the artwork instantly recognisable as Sue Howells. She is best known for her high energy, colours and exaggerated building and figures. Everything in her art is off-kilter which gives her paintings real charm and character that more and more people are falling in love with. It's an Upside Down World is a Signed Limited Edition Giclee Print, the edition size is just 95 worldwide. Union Art has the full collection of Signed Limited Edition Prints by Sue Howells available to view and purchase online.
