Frank Taylor - Nocturne

Frank Taylor has remained a popular artist at Union Art since he joined us 2 years ago.  His Signed Limited Edition Print Nocturne remains in the Union Art's Bestsellers list. The artwork has influences from Frank's travels to Europe, Turkey, North Africa and America. He works in a variety of media, from observations, memory and imagination. He often starts from a series of line drawings in pencil and ink and then he adds colour and works on large scale boards or canvas, while still retaining the pencil or ink lines.

Frank Taylor studied Fine art at Cardiff and Brighton Colleges of Art and from there went on to work as an illustrator and lecturer. He did this for several years until he left his position of head of department at Salisbury College of Art & Design in the early nineties in order to travel and paint. This decision proved to be a good one, he went on to hold numerous successful solo shows.

Since his college days Frank has been inspired by the artist Paul Klee.  Frank comments on Paul Klee "...to my mind by far the most imaginative and creative of twentieth century painters. Whenever I have a 'painter's block' it is to books on Paul Klee that I turn for a way forward."

Frank Taylor has shown his paintings with many of the Royal Societies, and has been a finalist in several national art competitions. He now exhibits in several leading galleries in England and Scotland. His many solo shows have resulted in his work being included in numerous public private and corporate collections throughout the world.
