Richard Thorn - November River.

Inspired by nature, Richard Thorn's artwork captures the rich landscape that surrounds him. His paintings are alluring and playful. The light is a major feature in Richard's artwork, it's either streaming through the trees or sparkling on the river or sea. Richard Thorn loved to draw from a young age and received a lot of positive feedback regarding his drawings.  With trips to Dartmoor with his family he was inspired by the rugged hills and streams, he says "drawing seemed to be as natural as eating".

Composition and contrast are the keys that inspire Richard to paint a subject. “As I get older, I feel an increasing need to incorporate drama into my work.  Light and dark passages, contra jour and strong composition serve to help me achieve this end. I feel too that my drawing has gradually become more expressive which adds vitality to this dramatic motivation."
