Ken Hammond

Ken Hammond

Ken Hammond was born in Surrey in 1948. He is a self-taught artist with a love of the coastal scenes and old ships on the South Coast where he now lives.
As a child he spent holidays with his uncle who was a fisherman on the River Fowey in Cornwall, this is where the influence of his estuary and harbor scenes have come from. He has been a member of the crew on the sailing ship "Sir Winston Churchill" and this has helped with the undrstanding of the rigging and handling of the older working vessels, which feature strongly in his paintings.
He has also been greatly influenced by the Dutch Masters and Norwich School of Painters. He likes to work in all painting mediums and is always trying to achieve new and different styles.
